Internetworked, art-loving friends!

This will no doubt read like something old people would write. I am old, so here goes:

deviantART sure has a lot of art on it!

I mean *a lot* a lot. Whenever I submit something, I immediately click over to New Deviations, and invariably in the intervening moments there appear to have already been multiple other submissions. Even if New Deviation sort ordering is unreliable (and believe that if *I* had to architect this website, it sure would be), there clearly are a lot of artists out there posting and commenting and favoriting.

I find this heartening. It's much closer to original vision of the World Wide Web as a collaborative, participatory medium than I'm used to from other great big web sites.

Keep up the good work, everyone!

Internetworked, art-loving friends:

With this year's chickpea crop failure, your nutritious icons and favoritings are the only thing standing between my family and starvation out here where civilization fades to wilderness, like a pigment gradient in one of your drawings that re-imagines a beloved childhood fairy tale protagonist as a thorough adult.

Truly, there is nothing "deviant" about generosity!
